Duncan Thompson Extensions’ design team brings each individual team member’s respective professional strengths together to create quality built home extensions that reflect your family’s needs and work within your budget.
The first thing we do is assess the viability of the project to ensure that our client’s brief and expectations can be met within the context of: the site; the existing house; planning and building regulations and the nominated budget.
As the design evolves, we reassess the likely project cost and the expected completion time for the extension and share this with the client. We always aim to be open and honest with our clients and involve them in the project, ensuring they have a good understanding of the work they’ve commissioned.
Our expertise extends to dealing with Town Planning, ResCode, Heritage Overlays and obtaining building permits. This adds to the design process and gives our client peace of mind, knowing that these sometimes complex issues are being expertly handled.
When the design is complete, we present it to our client using accurate, computer-generated colour perspective drawings, detailed floor plans and elevations and complete specifications. We can also arrange a 3D computer model and walk-through of the project if it’s required.
Once the client fully understands the design and specifications we then ask them to approve the project, allowing us to proceed to the next stage, bringing their vision closer to completion.
After the comprehensive quality assurance procedures are finished, we finalise the working drawings and contracts and secure the insurance and permits before we begin the house extension and renovations.
This is when we begin to turn our client’s vision into a reality.
