This home belongs to a young couple who were starting a family. They needed more space to entertain friends and family and merge the small backyard with the new living areas.
It was a relatively small site in Kew with town planning constraints that required a creative yet site responsive solution to identify the opportunities and form the design proposal.
The proposal consisted of two bedrooms, a bathroom and small sitting area upstairs, while an ensuite, powder room and opened up living areas with large glass doors integrated the outdoor deck.
It should be noted that the client had initially commissioned an architectural firm to prepare a concept for them, which was essentially lacking in architectural form and aesthetics suitable for their needs.
The Duncan Thompson Extensions proposal certainly achieved the client’s briefing requirements while also transforming the existing property into a home of distinction.
This is an example of how a carefully thought out proposal can result in a great family investment.
